Queen Naija Bulls (born October 17, 1995) is an American singer and media personality. She grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Queen Naija started her career as a YouTube vlogger. She also appeared on the TV show American Idol.
Her song "Medicine" came out in 2017. It became very popular, reaching the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The next year, she signed with Capitol Records. Her songs "Medicine", "Karma", and "Butterflies" all sold millions of copies. They were certified double platinum. Her first album, called Queen Naija (2018), reached number 26 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her first studio album, Missunderstood (2020), reached number nine on the same chart.

Queen Naija was born on October 17, 1995. Her hometown is Ypsilanti, Michigan. She has a mixed background, including Arab, African, and European roots. Her father is from Yemen.
Her mother gave her the name Queen Naija. "Queen" was inspired by her grandmother, who had the same first name. "Naija" comes from her father's name.
Music Career Journey
Starting Out: American Idol and YouTube
Queen Naija first became known as a contestant on American Idol. She tried out two years before but did not make it far. In her second try, she reached the Hollywood round. However, she was cut before the top 30 contestants were chosen. After American Idol, Queen Naija worked as a security guard. She then focused on growing her YouTube channel.
Music Takes Off: First Songs and EP
Queen Naija released her song "Medicine" in December 2017. Her second song, "Karma", came out in June 2018.
In January 2018, Queen Naija did a video interview about "Medicine" with Genius. She also shared videos on her YouTube channel about meeting with record labels. By March 2018, her first "Medicine" song post had over 10 million views. An official music video for "Medicine" was released later that month. It gained 4.5 million views on its first day. As of February 2025, it has over 248 million views. In July 2018, Queen Naija started a new YouTube channel called "Royal Family" with her boyfriend, Clarence White. This channel has over 2.79 million subscribers.
On April 25, 2018, Queen Naija signed with Capitol Records. On June 28, she released her second song, "Karma". She wrote and recorded this song in January 2018. On the day it was released, "Karma" became the number one song on the iTunes charts. It also reached number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The audio for "Karma" has over 116 million views.
Queen Naija released her first collection of songs, called an EP, on July 27, 2018. It was titled Queen Naija. The EP has five songs: "Medicine", "Karma", "Mama's Hand", "Butterflies", and "Bad Boy". Queen described the EP as an emotional journey. Each song shares an experience or feeling she went through. The songs talk about heartbreak, being a mother, and finding new love. "Medicine" is about heartbreak. "Karma" is about moving past heartbreak. "Mama's Hand" is for her son, promising him a bright future. "Butterflies" is about falling in love again. "Bad Boy" describes a new connection. The EP reached number 26 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also hit number one on the Apple Music R&B charts.
2020–Present: Missunderstood Album
On July 24, 2020, Queen Naija released "Pack Lite". This was the first song from her first full album. A music video for "Pack Lite" came out on July 31. On October 2, Queen released another song called "Lie to Me", featuring Lil Durk. A video for this song was released on October 5.
On October 30, 2020, Queen Naija released her first studio album, Missunderstood. The album has 18 songs. It features other artists like Jacquees, Toosii, Mulatto, Pretty Vee, Russ, Lucky Daye, and Kiana Ledé. Three songs from the album were certified Gold. A special version of the album, called Missunderstood...Still, was released on April 16, 2021. It included songs with J.I the Prince of N.Y and Ari Lennox.
On October 28, 2021, Missunderstood was nominated for an award at the 2021 American Music Awards. On October 17, 2021, which was Queen's 26th birthday, she started her "mini Butterfly Tour". This tour visited 19 cities across the U.S. and featured special guest Tink.
