Quiíndy (in Guaraní: Ki'indy) is a city and district in the Paraguarí Department of Paraguay. It is about 103 kilometers (64 miles) away from Asunción, the capital city.
The city is located right on Route 1, also known as "Mariscal Francisco Solano López" highway. Quiíndy is surrounded by beautiful clear streams, like the Tobatingua and the Yacareby. Close to the city, you'll find the famous Ypoá lake. This lake is a special nature reserve, full of amazing animals and plants, making it one of the most important natural areas in Paraguay.

This district covers an area of 885 square kilometers (about 342 square miles). Around 19,643 people live here, which means there are about 22 people per square kilometer.
What Quiíndy Makes and Grows
The people of Quiíndy mostly work in farming and raising animals. They are well-known for growing sugar cane, which is used to make a special Paraguayan drink called "caña". Farmers also grow grapes, cotton, and manioc (a root vegetable).
Besides growing crops, people here raise cows, sheep, pigs, and horses. But Quiíndy is most famous for making leather balls! Many people in the district work making these balls, and it's a very important part of the city's economy.
