Rafael Sánchez Guerra (born October 28, 1897 – died April 2, 1964) was a Spanish lawyer, journalist, and politician. He is best known for being the 8th president of Real Madrid. He held this role from May 31, 1935, to August 4, 1936.

A Leader During Tough Times
Sánchez Guerra's time as president of Real Madrid happened during the Spanish Civil War. This was a very difficult period in Spain's history. He was a strong supporter of the Republic.
Staying in Madrid
When the city of Madrid was about to be taken over by Francisco Franco's forces, Sánchez Guerra chose to stay. He did not want to leave the city. Because of this, he was captured and held by Franco's supporters.
Escape and Exile
After some time, he managed to escape. He went to Paris, France. In Paris, he became an important member of the Spanish government that was operating from outside Spain. This was called the government-in-exile.
Real Madrid During the War
During the war, Sánchez Guerra was not actively managing Real Madrid every day. Other people, like Juan José Vallejo and Antonio Ortega, helped run the club. These two were not officially elected presidents.
