You can find Raggedstone Hill just south of the Hollybush pass. If you're up for a quick adventure, it's a steep but short 15–20 minute walk to the top from the Hollybush car park nearby.
There's an old story about Raggedstone Hill. People say that if the hill's shadow falls on you, it brings bad luck! It's just a legend, but it makes the hill even more mysterious.
Raggedstone Hill in Stories and Songs
Books and Poems
A long time ago, in the 1800s, a writer named Charles F. Grindrod wrote a book called The Shadow of the Ragged Stone Hill. It's about a monk from Little Malvern Priory who had to crawl to the top of the hill every day as a punishment. When he couldn't do it anymore, he supposedly cursed the hill and anyone the shadow touched.
A poet named Wilfrid Wilson Gibson, who was part of a group called the Dymock Poets, also wrote a poem about the hill. It's called The Ragged Stone.
Music
The band Dodgy even named a song after the hill! They called it 'Raggedstone Hill' and recorded it in the Malvern area in 2011.
