Music Career
Our Lady Peace
Raine Maida is the lead singer and a founding member of the Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace. He started the band with guitarist Mike Turner in 1992.
In the band's early albums, Maida often sang with a high, nasal voice. This singing style, along with his unique lyrics, became a key part of Our Lady Peace's sound. Later, his voice became deeper for a while, but his older style returned on the band's 2012 album, Curve.
Maida has released many albums with Our Lady Peace. These include seven studio albums, a live album, and two greatest hits collections.
Solo Music
Raine Maida released a four-song collection called Love Hope Hero in 2006. He sold this collection during tours with Chantal Kreviazuk, on his website, and on iTunes.
His first full solo album, The Hunters Lullaby, was released in 2007. He recorded this album in his own studio, mostly using acoustic instruments. Maida described it as "a collection of poems put to music." His wife, Chantal Kreviazuk, sings and plays piano on several songs.
Maida released a free collection of songs called Pachamama in 2012. His second solo album, We All Get Lighter, came out in 2013.
Producing and Writing Songs
Maida has also worked as a music producer since 1999. He helped produce Our Lady Peace's albums Happiness...Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch and Spiritual Machines. He has also helped many independent bands.
He co-wrote and produced several songs for famous artists. For example, he worked on five songs for Avril Lavigne's album Under My Skin in 2004.
Maida and Chantal Kreviazuk also helped write songs for Kelly Clarkson, including "Where Is Your Heart?" and "Walk Away." They also wrote "Revolution" for The Veronicas and "Outside of You" for Hilary Duff. They have worked with many other artists, like David Cook and Carrie Underwood.
S!NG App
Raine Maida joined the S!NG team as their Chief Product Officer. S!NG creates tools that help artists share their work and make money from it. In 2021, they launched a free app that lets creators easily make NFTs.
NFTs are like unique digital certificates for artwork. They help artists prove who owns their digital creations and protect their work. Maida believes S!NG helps artists control their art and connect directly with fans. He says it's a big change for the music industry, giving more power to the artists.
Other Work
Raine Maida had a small acting role in the Canadian movie Century Hotel in 2001. He also contributed music to other projects, including a song for the HBO documentary Ithuteng. He and Chantal Kreviazuk also composed music for an old silent film called Cleopatra.

His charity work has earned him many awards, including the Tiffany Mark Award and the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Award. Maida also supports The David Suzuki Foundation, The Hospital for Sick Children, and Apathy Is Boring. He founded Harmony House, a music therapy retreat for war veterans.
In 2014, Maida and Kreviazuk were made members of the Order of Canada. This is a high honor given for their charitable and humanitarian work.
