Rainier is a very small community, known as a hamlet, located in southern Alberta, Canada. It is part of the County of Newell. Think of a hamlet as a tiny village, often without its own local government.
About Rainier
Rainier is found about 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) west of Highway 36. It is also around 26 kilometers (about 16 miles) southwest of a larger town called Brooks. This makes it a quiet spot in the Alberta countryside.
How Many People Live Here?
In 2020, the County of Newell did a special count of people, called a municipal census. This count showed that only 22 people lived in Rainier at that time. This makes Rainier one of the smallest communities in Alberta!
