A Look Back in Time
The County of Newell was officially created on January 1, 1953. It was formed by combining two smaller areas: the Municipal District of Newell No. 28 and part of the Municipal District of Bow Valley No. 40. For a while, it was called the County of Newell No. 4. However, on September 9, 2011, its name was officially shortened to just the County of Newell.
