Ranveer Singh Jugjeet Singh Bhavnani (born 6 July 1985) is a very popular Indian actor. He mainly stars in Hindi films. Ranveer has won many awards, including five Filmfare Awards. He is known as one of the most successful actors in Hindi cinema. He is also recognized as one of India's most powerful celebrity brands. Since 2012, he has been on Forbes India's list of top 100 celebrities.
After finishing his studies at Indiana University Bloomington, Ranveer started his acting career. His first big role was in the romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). This film helped him win the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He earned praise for his role in the drama Lootera (2013). He became a leading actor through his work with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Their films include Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015).

Ranveer Singh Bhavnani was born on 6 July 1985 in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. His family is from the Sindhi community. His parents are Anju and Jagjit Singh Bhavnani. He has an older sister named Ritika. Ranveer decided to drop "Bhavnani" from his name. He felt "Ranveer Singh" sounded better for his acting career.
Ranveer always wanted to be an actor. He took part in many school plays and debates. When he went to college in Mumbai, he realized how hard it was to get into films. So, he focused on creative writing for a while. He then moved to the United States for his studies. In 2008, he earned a degree in Telecommunications from Indiana University Bloomington. While there, he decided to take acting classes and studied theatre.
After returning to Mumbai in 2007, Ranveer worked in advertising as a copywriter. He also worked as an assistant director. But his dream was still to act.
