History of Raymond

Raymond's post office opened in 1882. The town was officially planned in 1883. It was named after J. M. Raymond, who was a railroad engineer.

Education in Raymond

There used to be a school called Logan Consolidated Schools. It was located about 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) east and 4.8 kilometers (3 miles) south of Raymond. This rural school taught students from kindergarten all the way through their senior year of high school. Their sports teams were called the Arrows. This school closed in 1962. In its last year, only 12 students were in the high school.

Raymond also had its own school, and its mascot was the Redwings. This school continued to operate into the 1970s.
