History of Raywick
Raywick got its name from two early families, the Ray family and the Wickliffe family. Loyd Ray and Nancy Wickliffe from these families got married in 1811.
A post office opened in Raywick in 1833. The city officially became a city in 1838.
Geography of Raywick
Raywick is located in the western part of Marion County. It sits along the Rolling Fork river. This river meets Prather Creek nearby.
The city is about 5 miles (8 km) east of where three counties meet: Marion, Nelson, and LaRue counties.
Raywick is centered around two main roads. Kentucky Route 527 goes north about 6 miles (10 km) to Loretto. It also goes south about 18 miles (29 km) to Campbellsville. Kentucky Route 84 connects Raywick to Lebanon, which is about 10 miles (16 km) to the east.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Raywick covers an area of 0.92 square miles (2.37 km²). A small part of this area, about 0.02 square miles (0.05 km²), is water.
