"Ready, Set, Don't Go" is a country song sung by American artists Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus. It was the first song released from Home at Last, which was Billy Ray Cyrus' tenth album. The song came out on October 10, 2007.
Billy Ray Cyrus wrote this song many years before it was released. He wrote it when his daughter, Miley, moved to Los Angeles. She went there to try out for the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. The song is about a parent watching their child grow up and leave home.
"Ready, Set, Don't Go" was liked by music critics. They thought the words of the song were very good. The song also did well in sales, which was a big success for Billy Ray Cyrus. It was his first song to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2000. It reached number 37 on that chart.
The song's music video was directed by Elliot Lester. It shows some of Billy Ray Cyrus's home movies with Miley. The video was nominated for an award. Later, the song was re-released as a duet with Miley singing too. At that time, Miley was 14 and very popular from her album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The duet version of the song was Miley's first country music song. It did even better on the music charts.
Billy Ray Cyrus performed the song many times. Sometimes he sang it alone, and sometimes Miley joined him. They performed it on Miley's first big concert tour, the Best of Both Worlds Tour.
