Reid is a small area, or suburb, located north of Adelaide in South Australia. A suburb is like a neighborhood, often found on the edge of a larger city. Reid is part of the Town of Gawler, which is a bigger local area.
Where is Reid?
Reid is a narrow strip of land. It is bordered by the main Gawler bypass road on one side. The Gawler River runs along another edge. A railway line, which goes from Gawler to Roseworthy, forms its third boundary. This makes Reid easy to find because of these clear natural and man-made borders.
How Reid Got Its Name
Reid became its own suburb in 2004. Before that, it was part of another area called Gawler West. The people living there asked for their own name. They signed a petition, which is a formal request, to make it easier for visitors and services to find their homes. The area was named after a Mr. Reid. He was one of the first people to own land in this specific area a long time ago.
