Renaldo Hill (born November 12, 1978) is an American former professional football player. He played as a strong safety in the National Football League (NFL). After his playing career, Hill became a coach. He is currently a defensive backs coach for the Carolina Panthers.
Hill played college football at Michigan State. He was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2001 NFL draft. During his 10 seasons as a player, Hill played for the Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, and Denver Broncos. He later coached for several NFL teams, including the Los Angeles Chargers as a defensive coordinator.

Renaldo Hill grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He went to Chadsey High School. There, he was a four-year starter as a defensive back. This means he played a key position on defense for all four years. He was also a good student, earning a spot on the school's academic honor roll.
Playing Football
College Career at Michigan State
Renaldo Hill played college football for the Michigan State Spartans from 1998 to 2000. He played under coach Nick Saban for his first two years. Hill started every game he played during this time, usually as a right cornerback.
He finished his college career with 182 total tackles. He also had nine interceptions and defended 36 passes. In 1998, he had a career-high five interceptions. He was recognized as one of the best players in the Big Ten Conference.

Renaldo Hill played in the NFL for 10 seasons. He was known for being a strong safety.
Arizona Cardinals Years
The Arizona Cardinals drafted Hill in 2001. In his first year, he played in 14 games. He made 22 tackles and helped stop passes.
In 2002, he started seven games. He had 66 tackles and two interceptions. He also recovered two fumbles in one game, which was a big play. His first NFL interception was against the Dallas Cowboys.

In 2018, Hill joined the Miami Dolphins as an assistant defensive backs coach.
He then moved to the Denver Broncos in 2019. He coached their defensive backs for two seasons.
In 2021, Hill became the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers. This was a big role, where he was in charge of the team's entire defense. He worked with coach Brandon Staley, whom he knew from Denver.
In 2023, Hill returned to the Miami Dolphins. He served as their pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach.

Family Life
Renaldo Hill has an older brother named Ray Hill. Ray also played football at Michigan State and for the Miami Dolphins. They are one of a few sets of brothers who have played for the Dolphins.
