Renville is a city located in Renville County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, about 1,301 people lived there.
Two important roads, U.S. Route 212 and County Highway 6, run through the city.

History of Renville
The city and county of Renville are named after Joseph Renville. He was a very important person with both French and Dakota heritage. Joseph Renville knew a lot about the wilderness. He helped guide many trips through the area.
Joseph Renville also started Fort Renville. He was a captain during the War of 1812. He worked as a messenger and an interpreter. He also helped start the Columbia Fur Company. People from all backgrounds respected him.
The city of Renville was planned out in 1878. This happened when the railroad reached the area. It officially became a city in 1906. Renville has grown from about 250 people in 1900 to around 1,200 residents today.
The city is located near the Minnesota River Valley. This area has very rich farmland. Because of this, Renville's economy has always been about agribusiness. Agribusiness means businesses related to farming. Renville helps farmers in the area. It also has the world's largest factory for processing sugar beets.
