Reptar is a fun, made-up character from the American cartoon TV show Rugrats. He looks like a giant green T. rex (a type of dinosaur). Sometimes, he even appears in purple or red colors. Reptar has round, blue spikes on his back. He was designed to look like and make fun of the famous movie monster, Godzilla.

Who is Reptar?

Reptar is a made-up character inside the Rugrats world. Most of the kids in the show, especially Tommy Pickles and his friends, really love him. He is shown as a huge, green dinosaur, like a Tyrannosaurus rex.

Reptar is super popular, much like Mickey Mouse is in our world. His role is a lot like Godzilla's. You can see Reptar's popularity everywhere in the show. The babies own lots of toys and items that feature him.

Reptar has also inspired many types of entertainment. These include an amusement park ride and an ice show. The episode "Reptar on Ice" shows the babies going to this ice show.

Tommy was the first to discover Reptar. He convinced his friends to sneak out of a "Dummi Bears" movie. They wanted to see the Reptar movie playing in another part of the theater. After the babies reunited with their parents, the adults realized how much the kids loved the dinosaur. They made sure to let the babies see more of Reptar. This included taking them to the "Reptar on Ice" show.

When Reptar is not a movie character, he often appears on merchandise. This includes breakfast cereals and stuffed dolls. He also makes small appearances in movies shown on the Pickles family's TV. Tommy's dad, Stu Pickles, even built things inspired by Reptar. The most famous is the Reptar Wagon. Reptar has also become a well-known icon in the real world.

Reptar in the Rugrats Movies

Reptar showed up in The Rugrats Movie as a special wagon. Tommy's dad, Stu Pickles, built this wagon. The Reptar Wagon was not just any wagon. It was like a high-tech car that could do many cool things. It could talk and even turn into a boat called "Aqua Reptar" when it was in water. It could also breathe fire!

The Rugrats took the wagon with them on a trip. They wanted to go to the "hopsical" (hospital) to return Tommy's new baby brother, Dil. But they got lost in the forest instead. In this movie, the Reptar wagon's voice was done by Levi Curl and rapper Busta Rhymes.

Reptar had an even bigger role in Rugrats in Paris. Stu Pickles built another robot that looked like Reptar. The robot's head fell off twice in the movie. Stu fixed it the first time for a play. The Rugrats also used the robot to stop a wedding at the church.

The Reptar Wagon can be seen in the background of Rugrats Go Wild. It appears near the start of the movie in the Pickles' backyard. In this film, neither Reptar nor the wagon are important to the story.

The Reptar Wagon also appeared in some Rugrats TV episodes after The Rugrats Movie came out. Busta Rhymes voiced it again. However, the wagon's voice was actually old recordings from the movie. The Reptar Wagon is not seen very often in the later episodes of the show.

Reptar as an Amusement Park Ride

Rugrats Runaway Reptar was the name of several Suspended Family Coaster rides. These rides were designed by a company called Vekoma. The first one opened in 2001 at Kings Island. It was the first roller coaster of its kind made just for children.

In 2002, another "Rugrats Runaway Reptar" opened at Dreamworld. A third one opened in 2003 at Carowinds. These rides have since been given new names and themes.

Runaway Reptar was also once the name of a different ride. This ride is now called Woodstock's Express at California's Great America. This ride is a traditional steel roller coaster for families.

The Toho Lawsuit

In 2002, a company called Toho Studios sued the creators of Rugrats. Toho Studios owns the rights to Godzilla. They sued because Reptar looked too much like Godzilla. Because of this lawsuit, Reptar appeared less often in later Rugrats episodes.
