Revelstoke Mountain Resort (RMR) is a fun ski resort located near the town of Revelstoke in British Columbia, Canada. It sits on Mount Mackenzie, just south of Revelstoke town. This resort offers a huge area of 1263 hectares (that's about 3121 acres!) for skiing and snowboarding. You can reach all this amazing terrain using special chairlifts.
The resort is famous for its "vertical descent" of 1713 meters. This means the difference in height from the very top of the ski runs to the bottom is over 1.7 kilometers! It has modern lifts, including two fast quad chairlifts and a large eight-person gondola that takes you up the mountain quickly.
Besides the areas you can reach by lift, Revelstoke Mountain Resort also has a special "cat skiing" operation. This means a snowcat (a large vehicle that moves on tracks) takes skiers to three big open areas called alpine bowls, just east of the main lift area. For even more adventure, there's also a heli-skiing service. Helicopters fly skiers to a massive 200,000 hectares (500,000 acres) of untouched snow!
Revelstoke Mountain Resort first opened its doors on December 22, 2007. It was a really big deal at the time, thought to be the largest new ski resort opening in North America in twenty years!
