Riccardo Tisci is a famous Italian fashion designer, born in 1974. He studied fashion in Italy until he was 17 years old. After that, he moved to London and graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1999.
In 2005, Riccardo became the creative director for Givenchy, a big fashion house. He designed women's fancy clothes (called haute couture) and everyday wear. Later, he also designed men's clothes and accessories for Givenchy. In 2018, he became the chief creative officer for another famous brand, Burberry.

Early Life and Education
Riccardo Tisci was born in Taranto, Italy, and grew up in Como. He finished his studies at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 1999.
Fashion Career
Starting Out in Fashion
After finishing college, Tisci worked for several companies. These included Puma, Antonio Berardi, and Coccapani. He then signed a three-year contract with Ruffo Research. This company helped many fashion designers start their careers.
After his contract ended in 2004, Tisci lived in India for a while. There, he started working on his very own fashion collection. In September 2004, he showed his first Riccardo Tisci Collection. This was during Milan Fashion Week in Milan.
Leading Givenchy (2005–2017)
In February 2005, Riccardo Tisci was chosen to be the creative director for Givenchy. He was in charge of their haute couture (high fashion), ready-to-wear, and accessories lines. The leaders at Givenchy believed Tisci was a "perfect fit" for the brand. They said he had a modern, romantic, and elegant style.
Tisci showed his first Givenchy haute-couture collection in July 2005. This happened during Paris Fashion Week in Paris.
Riccardo Tisci also designed costumes for famous singer Madonna. He created outfits for her Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2008. He designed another costume for her in 2009 for the same tour.
In February 2017, Tisci decided to leave his role at Givenchy. He said he wanted to focus on his "personal interests and passions." During his twelve years there, Givenchy's sales grew a lot.
Working at Burberry (2018–2022)
In 2018, Burberry chose Tisci to be their chief creative officer. He took over from Christopher Bailey. He also worked with designer Vivienne Westwood on a special collection for Winter 2018.
While at Burberry, Tisci wanted to create designs that mixed old traditions with new ideas. He often added a touch of dark, gothic charm to his work.
His time at Burberry ended in September 2022. It was announced that English designer Daniel Lee would take his place.
Fashion Style
Riccardo Tisci had great success with haute couture at Givenchy. He helped the brand grow its number of customers significantly. Tisci's fashion shows are known for their unique settings and designs. He describes his shows as "melancholic" and says he loves "romanticism and sensuality."
For his Givenchy Fall–Winter 2010 collection, he featured a new model named Lea T. She is a transgender woman from Brazil and was his longtime personal assistant.

- In 2008, he was asked to help create issue 8 of A-Anna Magazine.
- In 2010, he celebrated the end of an art exhibit for Marina Abramović. She later appeared in a Givenchy campaign.
- In 2011, he was a guest editor for Visionaire's RELIGION issue.
- In 2011, he worked with perfumer Francois Demachy to create the perfume Le Dahlia Noir.
- In 2011, he designed the cover for the album Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and Kanye West.
- In 2011, he helped create issue #8 of A Magazine. He featured artwork by Ray Caesar as his creative inspiration.
- In 2013, he designed clothes for singer Rihanna for her Diamonds World Tour.
- In 2014, he worked with Beyoncé and Jay-Z for their On the Run Tour.
- In 2014, he teamed up with Nike to create a series of Air Force 1 shoes.
- In 2016, he launched a sportswear collection with Nike. It was called NikeLab x RT: Training Redefined. It was made for Olympic athletes and everyday gym users.
- In 2016, he worked with virtual pop idol Hatsune Miku for an article in Vogue magazine. This was before the 2016 Met Gala.
- In 2018, he collaborated with NikeLab again. He created clothing and shoes for a made-up basketball team.
Besides his work at Givenchy, Tisci also designed costumes for a ballet. He worked with choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet. They created costumes for the orchestral ballet Boléro by Maurice Ravel at the Opéra Garnier in Paris.
Italian model Mariacarla Boscono often appears in his fashion shows and advertisements. This is because Tisci has been friends with her since before he worked at Givenchy.
Tisci also worked with American rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West. He created the cover for their 2011 album Watch the Throne. He also designed the covers for their songs "H•A•M" and "Otis". He worked with West again for his label GOOD Music on the 2012 album Cruel Summer.
