Richard Gasson (born 1842 – died September 29, 1864) was an American soldier. He fought bravely in the American Civil War. Richard Gasson received the Medal of Honor, which is the highest award for bravery in the United States. He was given this award after he died.
Gasson earned his medal for his brave actions during the Battle of Chaffin's Farm. This battle happened in Henrico County, Virginia, on September 29, 1864. Sadly, Gasson was killed during this battle. He was officially honored with the Medal of Honor on June 22, 1896.
