Rin Nakai (中井 りん, also なかい りん, Nakai Rin, born October 22, 1986) is a Japanese professional mixed martial artist. She started her career in 2006. Rin has fought in major organizations like Pancrase, Smackgirl, Valkyrie, and the UFC.

From 2006 to 2018, Rin Nakai was often ranked among the top ten women fighters. She competed in the Flyweight and Bantamweight weight classes.

Rin Nakai's Early Life and Training

Rin Nakai was born on October 22, 1986, in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, Japan. She began training in judo when she was only three years old. Judo is a Japanese martial art and Olympic sport.

Judo Achievements

Rin was very good at judo from a young age.

She went to Takanawadai High School and later attended Teikyo University, though she did not finish her studies there.

Starting Her MMA Journey

Rin Nakai began her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career on October 1, 2006. Her first fight was at an event called Pancrase 2006 Blow Tour.

First Fight and Early Wins

In her debut fight, Rin faced Asuka Ito. She won the match by TKO (technical knockout) after breaking Ito's nose. This was a strong start to her career.

  • Later that year, on September 6, 2007, she defeated Asha Ingeneri in the first round with an armbar. An armbar is a submission hold that hyperextends the opponent's elbow joint.
  • Her final fight for Smackgirl was on April 25, 2008, where she defeated Kanako Takeshita.

Competing in Valkyrie

In December 2008, Rin fought WINDY Tomomi at a Pancrase-sponsored event. She won by TKO with mounted punches. After a break, Rin joined the VALKYRIE promotion.
