Robert Sean Moore (born September 27, 1968) is a well-known American football coach and former player. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL). Before becoming a coach, Moore played as a wide receiver in the NFL. He played for the New York Jets from 1990 to 1994 and then for the Arizona Cardinals from 1995 to 2001. He also played college football at Syracuse University, where he was recognized as an All-American player in 1989.

Playing Career Highlights

Robert Moore was a talented wide receiver. He stood 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 202 pounds. He played in the NFL for 11 seasons, from 1990 to 2001. The New York Jets picked him in the first round of the special supplemental draft in 1990.

Time with the Jets and Cardinals

During his career, Moore played in 153 games and started 146 of them. He caught 628 passes for a total of 9,368 yards. He also scored 49 touchdowns. One of his best seasons was in 1997. That year, he caught 97 passes for 1,584 yards and 8 touchdowns. Because of his amazing performance, he was named an All-Pro player.

Moore went to Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York. His younger brother, Brandon Moore, also played in the NFL as a linebacker.

You might have even seen a bit of Rob Moore in the famous movie Jerry Maguire. The character Rod Tidwell, played by Cuba Gooding, Jr., wore Moore's number 85 jersey.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Rob Moore became a football coach. He specializes in coaching wide receivers.

Early Coaching Roles

In January 2010, Moore was hired by Doug Marrone to coach wide receivers at his old college, Syracuse University. He helped train young players there for several years.

Coaching in the NFL

On February 6, 2014, Moore joined the Buffalo Bills coaching staff as their wide receivers coach. However, he left the Bills when Doug Marrone unexpectedly resigned after the 2014 season.

Later, on January 29, 2018, Moore was hired by the Tennessee Titans as their wide receivers coach. He worked with the Titans until 2023. In 2024, he moved to the Carolina Panthers to continue coaching wide receivers.
