Robbie Amell (born Robert Patrick Amell IV on April 21, 1988) is a talented actor and producer from Canada. He is famous for playing many exciting characters on TV shows and in movies. You might know him as Stephen Jameson from The Tomorrow People. He also played Ronnie Raymond / Firestorm in The Flash. More recently, he stars as Nathan Brown in the popular series Upload.
Robbie has also appeared in family-friendly films. He played Fred Jones in the Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins movies. His cousin, Stephen Amell, is also an actor, and they have worked together on projects like Code 8.

Robbie Amell's Early Life and School
Robbie Amell was born in April 1988 in Toronto, Canada. His parents, Josephine and Robert, work in the custom jewelry business. Robbie's first cousin is Stephen Amell, who is known for his role in the TV show Arrow.
Robbie started modeling and acting in commercials when he was just six years old. He and his sister would often appear in these early roles. As he got older, around age sixteen, he began acting in high school plays. Some of these plays included Picasso at the Lapin Agile and The Importance of Being Earnest.
Robbie studied acting at the Canadian Studios Acting Academy. He finished high school in 2006 at Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto.
Robbie Amell's Acting Career
Robbie Amell's first movie role was Daniel Murtaugh in Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in 2005. He was originally supposed to have no speaking lines, but he ended up getting a few! He also appeared in the Canadian TV series Life with Derek from 2006 to 2008. In this show, he played Max, the boyfriend of the main character, Casey McDonald. Life with Derek was shown all over the world, including on the US Disney Channel.
Robbie also had a recurring role on the Nickelodeon series True Jackson, VP. He played Jimmy, who was Max Madigan's nephew and True's love interest. He also appeared in the Cartoon Network series Unnatural History.
Becoming Fred Jones and Other Roles
In 2009, Robbie was cast as Fred Jones in the TV movie Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins. This movie became one of the most-watched shows ever on Cartoon Network. He played Fred again in the sequel, Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, in 2010.
Robbie has always loved hockey and even thought about playing it professionally. However, he found his passion for acting instead. He also takes breakdancing lessons! He had a recurring role on MTV's Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous.
Major TV and Movie Roles
In 2013, Robbie got a very important role as the main character, Stephen Jameson, in the CW's science fiction show The Tomorrow People. This show was a new version of an older British series.
In 2014, Robbie joined the cast of the movie The DUFF, playing the character Wesley. Later that year, he was cast in another big role on the CW series The Flash. He played Ronnie Raymond / Firestorm, a superhero character. He appeared in the first, second, third, and eighth seasons of the show.
In 2015, Robbie was in the tenth season of The X-Files as FBI Agent Miller. He also starred with Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner in the movie Nine Lives, which came out in 2016. In 2017, he co-starred in the horror film The Babysitter. He returned for the sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, in 2020.
Producing and Starring in Code 8 and Upload
Robbie Amell not only starred in but also helped produce the 2019 science fiction action film Code 8. His cousin, Stephen Amell, also starred in and produced the movie. This film was based on an earlier short film and was funded by fans who raised over $2 million. Robbie returned to star in and produce the sequel, Code 8: Part II, which was released in 2024.
Since 2020, Robbie has been the lead actor in Upload. This is a science fiction comedy series available on Amazon Prime Video. Many people have praised Robbie's acting in the series, especially his chemistry with his co-star Andy Allo. He also showed his talent by playing two different characters in the third season.
Robbie Amell's Personal Life
Robbie Amell started dating actress Italia Ricci in July 2008. They met while working on a movie together. They got engaged in August 2014 and were married on October 15, 2016. Robbie and Italia welcomed their first child, a son, in 2019. In January 2020, they became citizens of both Canada and the United States. They currently live in Toronto.
Growing up, Robbie was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey team. After moving to Los Angeles, he started cheering for the Los Angeles Kings. However, he still considers Toronto his "second team."
