Robert Yarnall Richie facts for kids
Robert Yarnall Richie (born in 1908, died in 1984) was an American photographer. He worked as a photographer for businesses and industries. Richie took pictures in Texas and all over the world. His photos are important because they are artistic and show real-life events. Richie is perhaps best known for his pictures of oil production and airplanes. He took many photos in places like Texas, Louisiana, the Gulf of Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.
Richie's photos were published in famous magazines. These included Fortune, Time, Life, Scientific American, and National Geographic. He also took pictures for the yearly reports of large companies. Some of these companies were General Motors, U.S. Steel, and Gulf Oil.
Richie was also a very keen pilot. His life's work includes thousands of aerial photographs. These are pictures taken from an airplane. He took them all over the world. He also photographed many aircraft and other things related to flying.
Many of his photos are part of a special collection. It is called the Robert Yarnall Richie Photograph Collection. This collection is kept at the DeGolyer Library. This library is at Southern Methodist University (SMU). The SMU collection has photos Richie took from 1932 to 1975. Many of these pictures are available online.
