Roberto López Ufarte, born on April 19, 1958, is a famous former Spanish football player. He was a forward, which means he played at the front of the team, trying to score goals. People sometimes called him The little devil because of how he played.

He spent most of his 15-year career playing for Real Sociedad. He stayed with them for 12 seasons. During this time, he helped the team win four big titles. These included two La Liga championships, which is Spain's top football league. He also played for Atlético Madrid and Betis. Overall, he played in 418 matches and scored 112 goals in his career. Roberto López Ufarte also played for the Spanish national team in the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

Playing for Clubs

Roberto López Ufarte was born in Fes, Morocco. His parents were from Andalusia and Catalonia in Spain. They moved to Morocco in 1944 to find work during the Second World War. After about 22 years, his family moved back to Irun, which is in the Basque Country region of Spain.

He started playing football at a local club called Real Unión. Soon after, he joined Real Sociedad. He made his first appearance in La Liga during the 1975–76 season. His very first game was on November 30, 1975. It was a local derby match against Athletic Bilbao, and Real Sociedad lost 2–0. Roberto was only 17 years old at the time.

After that, he quickly became a very important player for Real Sociedad. He scored 16 goals in 63 matches. He helped his team win two league titles in a row.

Roberto López Ufarte left Real Sociedad in 1987. He had another strong season that year, playing in 33 league games and scoring ten goals. He also helped the team win the Copa del Rey, which is a major cup competition in Spain. During his time at Real Sociedad, he played in 474 official games and scored 129 goals.

After leaving Real Sociedad, he played one season for Atlético Madrid in 1987–88. His team finished third in the league that year. Roberto then finished his playing career at Real Betis when he was 31 years old. He had some problems with knee injuries. His team, Real Betis, was also relegated to the Segunda División, which is the second division of Spanish football.

After he stopped playing, he worked as an assistant manager for different coaches at Real Sociedad. Later, he went back to Real Unión and became their director of football.

Playing for Spain

Roberto López Ufarte played for the Spanish national team 15 times over five years. His first game for Spain was on September 21, 1977. He even scored a goal in that game! Spain won 2–1 against Switzerland in a friendly match.

He also played for Spain in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. This World Cup was held in Spain. His last game for the national team was a 1–2 loss against West Germany during the second group stage of the tournament.
