What is Robot and Monster About?

This animated series follows the daily adventures of two very different best friends: Robot Default and Monster Krumholtz.

  • Robot Default is a super smart inventor.
  • Monster Krumholtz is a happy and excited purple creature.

They live together and even have a pet named Marf, who used to be a pest!

Robot and Monster work at the Blinking Light Factory. This factory is owned by Robot's older brother, Gart, who loves to make Robot's life difficult. The duo also often run into their neighbor, Ogo, who is super obsessed with them.

Meet the Characters

Main Characters

  • Robot Default (Curtis Armstrong): Robot is an orange robot who works as a Quality Control Inspector. He often feels like everything goes wrong for him, especially with his annoying brother Gart around. But luckily, he has Monster, who always believes in him. Robot is the smarter one of the two and often tries to invent things, though they don't always work out. He and Monster have been friends since they were kids.
  • Monster Krumholtz (Harland Williams): Monster is a purple creature who looks a bit like a minotaur. He's always positive and believes that "Good things happen to good people." Monster is very outgoing and loves to explore new things. He wants to make everyone happy, but sometimes he's a bit too trusting. Even when things don't go his way, he stays cheerful, making him a great friend to Robot.
  • Marf (Curtis Armstrong, Jeff Bennett in "Speak, Marf, Speak"): Marf is Robot and Monster's pet. He's a metal block that acts like a dog and only says "marf."
  • Ogo (Jonathan Slavin): Ogo is the third wheel in Robot and Monster's friendship. He's obsessed with them, which often makes them feel annoyed or creeped out. He always tries to join their activities and doesn't understand that he's not really part of their duo. Ogo is also allergic to bacon, which makes him sleepy.
  • Perry (Maurice LaMarche): Perry is a robot who works with Robot and Monster. He always has a smile, but it's because of a problem with his face, not because he's happy. He often gets hurt and feels miserable, but he does find joy in Robot's bad luck.

Other Important Characters

  • J.D. (Megan Hilty): J.D. is a cool biker girl whose best friend is her robotic bike, Spitfire. Many characters, including Robot and Monster, have a crush on her.
  • Spitfire (Cree Summer): Spitfire is J.D.'s cool robotic bike and best friend. They often hang out at the local bacon restaurant. Spitfire is usually more sensible than J.D.
  • Gart Default (Maurice LaMarche): Gart is Robot's arrogant older brother. He loves to tease Robot and runs their family's Blinking Light factory.
  • Nessie (Rhea Perlman): Nessie is the owner of the Makin' Bacon restaurant. She has six tentacles!
  • Punch Morley (Fred Tatasciore): Punch used to be a Pole-O player (a popular sport) and now works as a handyman at the factory. He has short-term memory loss from hitting his head during a game.
  • Crikey (Nolan North): Crikey is a mean robot with a Cockney accent. He often bothers Robot and Monster.
  • Mr. Wheelie (Kurtwood Smith): He is Robot and Monster's grumpy landlord. He has a spiky blue head and bicycle wheels for feet. He doesn't allow pets, so Robot and Monster have to hide Marf from him.

  • Hal Worth-a-ton (Nolan North): A salesman with a Texan accent who often lies about his products on TV.

  • Arpa Default (April Winchell): Robot and Gart's mother. Gart gets his arrogance from her.
  • Grandma Default (April Winchell): Robot and Gart's grandmother. She's a grumpy family member who speaks in computer code (only "one" and "zero") and doesn't like Organics (like Monster).
  • Gizmo Default (Alan Tudyk): Robot's quirky cousin who talks to imaginary people. The Default family finds him a bit embarrassing.
  • Uncle Kuffley Krumholtz (Nolan North): Monster's loud uncle who is a police officer and teaches at the Traffic Walking School.
