This neighborhood is about 9 kilometers (or 5.6 miles) north of the main city of Launceston. In 2016, a count showed that 1081 people lived in Rocherlea. It's known as a northern suburb, meaning it's in the northern part of Launceston. You can drive to the city center in about ten minutes from Rocherlea. It's also on the road that leads to a place called Lilydale. In Rocherlea, you can find a community center, a church, and an op shop, which sells second-hand items.

How Rocherlea Got Its Name
The name Rocherlea has an interesting story. It was named after the "Rocher" family. Mr. Rocher was the Town Clerk, an important official in the city. Before it was officially called Rocherlea, people often referred to the area as "Rocher's Lane." This name stuck around until 1963, when it was officially changed to Rocherlea.
