Rock Cave is a small, unincorporated community located in Upshur County, West Virginia, in the United States. It is also a census designated area, which means it's a place the government counts for population information.
You can find Rock Cave southwest of the town of Buckhannon. It sits right where West Virginia Route 4 meets two local roads, County Routes 11/2 and 20/28.
Throughout its history, Rock Cave has been known by a few different names. Some of these names include Bob Town, Centerville, and Centreville.
The name "Rock Cave" actually came from a phrase called "Rock Lava." People believed there were rocks that looked like they came from a volcano found near where the town is now.
The public schools in Rock Cave are managed by the Upshur County Schools system.
