Rocky Hill's Past
Before the 1930s, Rocky Hill was a busy place. It was a stop for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Trains would drop off coal here. In the 1920s, many people lived in Rocky Hill. The town was growing fast with lots of businesses. It had two places to keep horses, a general store, a train station, and two hotels.
A big fire caused a lot of damage to the town. Half of Rocky Hill burned down. This happened because the volunteer fire department was not strong enough yet. Since then, the fire department has become much better. After the fire, many people moved away. The railroad also stopped bringing coal to the town.
Even today, the people of Rocky Hill keep their history alive. Every year, they host "Rocky Hill Days" at the volunteer fire department. Recently, a Civil War re-enactment was added to the festival. People hope this re-enactment will happen every year.
