About Roger Binny
Roger Binny was born in Bengaluru, which was then part of the Mysuru State. He is the first person of Scottish and Indian heritage, known as Anglo-Indian, to play cricket for India.
His son, Stuart Binny, also became a cricketer. Stuart played for the Karnataka cricket team and the India national cricket team. He also played in the Irani Trophy, a special cricket tournament in India.
Roger Binny's Cricket Career
Roger Binny is most famous for his amazing bowling skills. In the 1983 Cricket World Cup, he took the most wickets (18) for India. He did this again in the 1985 World Series Cricket Championship in Australia, taking 17 wickets.
Early Matches

Roger Binny and fellow fast bowler Karsan Ghavri were important. They helped take the shine off the new ball, making it easier for India's spin bowlers. Binny was also a great fielder because he was tall and athletic.
World Cup Success
Binny was not always a regular player in the Indian team. However, he proved how valuable he was in the 1983 Cricket World Cup in England. Under the leadership of Kapil Dev, Binny and Madan Lal helped India win its first World Cup title. Binny took a record 18 wickets in that tournament.
Coaching and Media Work
After his playing career, Binny became a coach. He led the India national under-19 cricket team to victory in the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. Future star players like Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh were part of that team.
