Roger Howarth (born September 13, 1968) is an American actor. He is well-known for his roles in popular daytime TV shows, often called soap operas. He played the character Todd Manning on One Life to Live (OLTL). This role helped him win a Daytime Emmy Award in 1994. Many people see Todd Manning as a very famous character in soap opera history.
Roger Howarth also played Paul Ryan on As the World Turns until that show ended in 2010. Later, he joined General Hospital, where he played different characters like Todd Manning, Franco, and Austin Gatlin-Holt. Besides soap operas, he has appeared in other TV shows like Prey and Dawson's Creek.

Early Life and Education
Roger Howarth was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. His father worked in theater and wrote plays. This meant Roger grew up around the arts. He even performed in a play called The Grand Duke when he was only seven years old.
Roger was also very active in sports. He played soccer from a young age until he was 19. He even got to play in other countries with a special amateur team. He played in places like Europe and Brazil.
At first, Roger didn't plan to become an actor. He studied political science at George Washington University. But after one semester, he decided to follow his passion for acting. He left college to join a special acting program at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center in Connecticut.

Roger Howarth started his TV career after being found during a nationwide search for new talent. He got a small role as Kent Winslow on the TV show Loving.
Playing Todd Manning
Roger Howarth became very famous for playing Todd Manning on One Life to Live. He played this character on and off starting in 1992. People really liked his acting, and he won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1994 for the role. He left the show in 1995 but returned later. He left again in 1998 to try other acting projects.
Broadway and Other TV Shows
After leaving One Life to Live for a while, Roger Howarth performed on Broadway. He was in a play called The White Rose. He also acted in other theater productions like Henry IV and Mother Courage. A big role for him on Broadway was in The Lion In Winter in 1999. In this play, he acted alongside famous stars like Stockard Channing and Laurence Fishburne.
In 2000, Roger returned to One Life to Live. He also appeared on Dawson's Creek in 2003 as Professor Greg Hetson. Later that year, he decided to move on from One Life to Live and joined As the World Turns. There, he took over the role of Paul Ryan in July 2003.
Moving to General Hospital
In 2011, Roger Howarth returned to One Life to Live. Then, in 2012, he, along with actors Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson, moved to General Hospital. They first played their One Life to Live characters on General Hospital. However, due to some legal issues about the characters, they had to leave those roles.
In May 2013, Roger Howarth returned to General Hospital as a new character. He was cast as Franco, a role that had been played by James Franco before. Roger played Franco until March 2021, when the character was written off the show. But Roger didn't stay away for long! He returned to General Hospital just two months later, in May 2021, as a brand new character, Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt. In November 2023, Roger Howarth announced he would be leaving General Hospital.
Personal Life
Roger Howarth met his wife, Cari Stahler, in New York City. He lived above the café where she worked. She asked him out on their first date, which was at Coney Island. They later got married and have two children together.
