Serving in the U.S. House of Representatives
Marshall decided to run for Congress in 2016. He challenged the person who was already holding the seat for Kansas's 1st congressional district. Many farming groups in Kansas supported him. They were concerned that Kansas did not have a representative on the important House Agriculture Committee.
On August 2, 2016, Marshall won the Republican primary election. He then won the general election with 65.9% of the votes. He was supported by groups like the United States Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas Farm Bureau.
Marshall represented a large area of Kansas known as "the Big First." This district covered more than half of the state's land. He was sworn into office on January 3, 2017.

Agriculture and Farming
Marshall supports programs that help farmers, like federal crop insurance. In 2023, he introduced a bill called the EATS Act. This bill aimed to stop states from making their own rules about how farm products are made if those products are sold across state lines. He believes such rules make it harder for farmers.

Marshall supports getting rid of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as "Obamacare"). He also does not support expanding Medicaid in Kansas. Medicaid is a program that helps people with low incomes get healthcare.
Economy
