The Roger Williams National Memorial is a special park in Providence, Rhode Island. It remembers Roger Williams, who helped start Rhode Island in 1636. This park celebrates his fight for religious freedom. Roger Williams was told to leave the Massachusetts Bay Colony because of his beliefs. He then started a new colony where everyone could worship freely. This park is one of the smallest national parks in the United States.

A national memorial is a special place that honors a person or event. The Roger Williams National Memorial was officially made a national memorial on October 22, 1965. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.

The park was built in the late 1970s. This happened after the land was bought and old buildings were removed. For many years, this was the only National Park System site in Rhode Island. In 2014, the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park also became part of the National Park Service.
