Roland Delorme's Fighting Career
Starting Out in MMA
Before joining the big leagues, Roland Delorme had a good start to his career. He had 7 wins and 2 losses in his fights. All of these early fights took place in his home country of Canada.
On The Ultimate Fighter TV Show
Roland Delorme joined the reality TV show The Ultimate Fighter. This show helps new fighters get a chance to join the UFC. He was chosen last for Team Miller. This happened after he won a preliminary fight against B.J. Ferguson. Roland won that fight using a move called a "triangle choke."
However, he did not make it to the semi-finals of the show. He lost his fight to T.J. Dillashaw. Roland was submitted, which means his opponent made him give up. This happened at the end of the second round.
Fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
After The Ultimate Fighter, Roland Delorme got to fight in the UFC.
First UFC Fights
His first UFC fight was against Josh Ferguson. This fight happened at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale. Roland won this fight by submission in the third round.
Next, Roland fought Nick Denis on May 5, 2012. This fight was at UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller. Roland stepped in to fight because another fighter, Johnny Bedford, was injured. Roland won this exciting fight by a "rear-naked choke" submission. This happened very late in the first round. Both fighters landed strong punches before Roland got the win.
Later UFC Matches
Roland was supposed to fight Bibiano Fernandes in July 2012. But Fernandes did not sign with the UFC. So, Roland fought Francisco Rivera instead at UFC 149. Roland lost this fight by knockout in the first round. However, the result of this fight was later changed. It became a "No Contest" because Rivera tested positive for a banned substance. This means the fight officially has no winner or loser.
On June 15, 2013, Roland Delorme faced Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161. It was a very close and exciting fight. Roland won by a unanimous decision. This means all the judges agreed that he won.
After that, Roland fought Alex Caceres on September 21, 2013, at UFC 165. This was another close fight. Roland lost this one by a split decision. This means some judges thought he won, but more judges thought Caceres won.
Final UFC Appearances
Roland was scheduled to fight Davey Grant in March 2014. But the fight was canceled. Grant had to pull out because he injured his knee.
Roland then fought a new fighter named Michinori Tanaka on June 14, 2014, at UFC 174. Roland lost this fight by unanimous decision.
His last UFC fight was against Ulka Sasaki on August 23, 2014, at UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Le. Roland lost this fight by submission in the first round. After this fight, he was released from the UFC.
