Ronalee Ambrose Veitch, born March 15, 1969, is a Canadian former politician. She was the temporary leader of the Conservative Party. She also served as the Leader of the Opposition from 2015 to 2017.
Ambrose was a member of the House of Commons. This is where elected politicians meet to make laws for Canada. She represented the area of Sturgeon River—Parkland from 2015 to 2017. Before that, she represented Edmonton—Spruce Grove from 2004 to 2015.
During her time as an MP (Member of Parliament), she held many important jobs. She was a minister in charge of different government departments. These roles included Minister of Health and Minister of the Environment. She also worked as a consultant for the Alberta government.
In 2017, Ambrose decided to leave federal politics. She said she hoped to inspire other women to get involved in public service. After leaving politics, she joined a special council. This council gave advice on trade talks between Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Early Life and Education
Rona Ambrose was born Ronalee Chapchuk in Valleyview, Alberta. Her parents are Colleen and James Chapchuk. She spent parts of her childhood in both Brazil and Parkland County, Alberta.
Besides speaking English, Ambrose also knows Portuguese and Spanish. She studied at the University of Victoria, earning a degree in women's and gender studies. She later got a master's degree in political science from the University of Alberta.

Minister of the Environment
From 2006 to 2007, Ambrose was the Minister of the Environment. In this role, she worked on issues related to Canada's natural world. This included protecting wildlife and dealing with pollution.
Minister of Health
One of her key roles was as Minister of Health from 2013 to 2015. As Health Minister, she was responsible for Canada's healthcare system. This involved making decisions about public health and medical services.
Leader of the Opposition
From 2015 to 2017, Ambrose served as the interim leader of the Conservative Party. This also made her the Leader of the Official Opposition. The Leader of the Opposition leads the main party that is not in power. Their job is to challenge the government and offer different ideas.
