Rosalind Theresa Cash (born December 31, 1938 – died October 31, 1995) was an American actress. She was well-known for her role in the 1971 science-fiction movie The Omega Man. Rosalind Cash also played Mary Mae Ward on the TV show General Hospital from 1994 until she passed away in 1995.

Her Early Life and School

Rosalind Cash was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was the second of four children. Her parents were John O. Cash Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Cash. She had two brothers, John Jr. and Robert, and a sister, Helen.

Rosalind was a great student. She graduated with high honors from Atlantic City High School in 1956. After high school, she went to City College of New York. Her acting career included work in theater, television, movies, and even music recordings.

Her Acting Career

Rosalind Cash started acting in plays. In 1962, she was in a play called Fiorello!. She was also one of the first members of the Negro Ensemble Company, which started in 1968. In 1973, she played Goneril in the play King Lear in New York. She acted alongside famous actor James Earl Jones.

Rosalind also appeared on a New York TV show called Callback!. She sang "God Bless the Child" on the show in 1969. She was in many popular TV shows like The Cosby Show, What's Happening!!, A Different World, Good Times, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Golden Girls.

She was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work in a TV show called Go Tell It on the Mountain. After she passed away, she was nominated for another Emmy Award in 1996. This was for her role as Mary Mae Ward on General Hospital.

Rosalind Cash was in several movies. Some of her films include Omega Man (1971), Klute (1971), Uptown Saturday Night (1974) with Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier, and Wrong Is Right (1982). Her last movie was Tales from the Hood in 1995.

She also used her voice for the Sesame Street Muppet characters. She was the voice of Roosevelt Franklin's mother and his sister, Mary Frances. This was for a record album released in 1970.

Her Personal Life and Passing

Rosalind Cash never got married and did not have any children. She passed away from cancer on October 31, 1995. She was 56 years old and died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
