Ross Paul Davenport (born 23 May 1984) is a famous English swimmer. He has competed for Great Britain in big events like the Olympic Games and European championships. He also swam for England in the Commonwealth Games. Ross is known for winning two gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He won for the 200-metre freestyle race and the 4×200-metre freestyle relay.

About Ross Davenport

Ross Davenport was born in Belper, Derbyshire, England. He started his schooling at Belper School in 1995. He later trained at Loughborough University, which is where he lives now. Ross was also part of the University of Bath swimming club. His coach there was Ian Turner.

In November 2006, Ross was named the BBC East Midlands Sports Personality of the Year. This award recognized his great achievements in swimming.

Olympic and Championship Success

Ross Davenport has represented his country on the world stage many times. He competed for Great Britain in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He qualified for two swimming events: the 200-metre freestyle and the 4×200-metre freestyle relay.

He earned his spot in the Olympics by winning the 200-metre freestyle race. This happened at the 2008 Long Course British Championships. His winning time was 1 minute and 47.66 seconds. Ross was also part of the British 4x200-metre freestyle relay team at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Commonwealth Games Achievements

Ross had a fantastic performance at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. He won two gold medals there. One was for the individual 200-metre freestyle race. The other was for the 4×200-metre freestyle relay team event. He also won a silver medal in the 4×100-metre medley relay at the same games.

At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, Ross continued his success. He won another silver medal. This was for the 4×100-metre freestyle relay.
