Where is Rossville?
Rossville is located in the United States, in the state of Missouri. You can find it in the eastern part of Butler County. It sits right on Missouri Route 51. This road connects Rossville to Batesville in the south and Fisk to the north.
Rossville is also about 7.5 miles east of a bigger town called Poplar Bluff. The land here is about 322 feet (98 meters) above sea level.
How Rossville Got Its Name
This community was named after a person! It was named after Mrs. Ross, who was one of the first people to live there.
A Bit of History
During a time called Shelby's Raid in 1863, a military leader named Joseph O. Shelby sent out small groups of scouts. These scouts went to places like Clarksville, Dardanelle, and Ozark in Arkansas. Their job was to look for Federal troops in the area.
