Rovray is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Vaud, within the Jura-Nord Vaudois area.

A Look Back in Time
Rovray is an old place! It was first written about between 1403 and 1409. Back then, its name was Roueraye.
Another village nearby, Arrissoules, is even older. It was first mentioned in 1148 as Arresules.
On January 1, 2005, Arrissoules joined with Rovray. The combined area kept the name Rovray.
Geography of Rovray
Rovray covers an area of about 3.2 square kilometers (1.2 square miles). A large part of this land, about 74%, is used for farming. This includes fields for crops and pastures for animals.
About 19% of Rovray is covered by forests. The remaining 6.6% of the land has buildings and roads.
The municipality used to be part of the Yverdon District. However, this district was closed on August 31, 2006. Rovray then became part of the new Jura-Nord Vaudois district.
Rovray is located above the shore of Lake Neuchatel. It includes two villages: Rovray and Arrissoules.
Rovray's Coat of Arms
A coat of arms is like a special symbol for a town or family. Rovray's coat of arms was created on January 1, 2005. This was when Rovray and Arrissoules merged into one municipality.
The coat of arms combines symbols from both villages. From Rovray, it has a gold buck (a male deer) jumping on a blue background with silver acorns. From Arrissoules, it has a linden tree on a background with six blue and gold stripes.
The coat of arms also shows a tunnel. This represents the Arrissoules motorway tunnel.
People of Rovray
Rovray has a population of 202 people. As of 2008, about 5.2% of the people living in Rovray were from other countries.
Most people in Rovray speak French. About 98.9% of the population speaks French as their main language. A small number of people speak English.

Many adults in Rovray have completed a good level of education. About 41.4% have finished high school. Another 16.1% have gone on to higher education, like university.
In the 2009/2010 school year, there were 13 students in the Rovray school district.
In the Vaud canton, children can attend two years of pre-school, which is not required. The canton also has a primary school program that lasts for four years. In Rovray, 6 students were in primary school.
