Roy Davis Jr. is an American musician and DJ. He is known for his electronic music, especially a style called house music. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, which is a famous city for house music.

Early Life and Music Start

Roy Davis Jr. was born in California but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He became interested in house music when he was young. He was inspired by famous DJs like Lil' Louis, DJ Pierre, and Marshall Jefferson.

In the late 1980s, Roy Davis Jr. started his own music production company. It was called Phuture. He also became a talent scout for a record label named Strictly Rhythm in New York City. At the same time, he ran his own record label in Chicago, called Undaground Therapy Muzik.

Making Hit Songs

A few years later, Roy Davis Jr. worked with singer-songwriter Peven Everett. They wrote and produced a song called "Gabriel". This song was released in 1996. It became very popular and was played in nightclubs all over the world.

"Gabriel" reached number 22 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1997. The song sold over 200,000 copies! It has also appeared on many music collections. Another one of his songs, "About Love," reached number 70 in the UK in 2004. He also had success with songs like "Who Dares to Believe in Me" (released under the name The Believers) and "All I Do."

Working with Other Artists

Roy Davis Jr. has also worked with many other famous musicians. He produced music for artists like Eric Benet, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige, Seal, Patti LaBelle, Christina Milian, and Morcheeba. In 2011, he produced a song called "Enjoy the Ride" with J. Noize and Kaye Fox.

Facing Challenges

In April 2016, Roy Davis Jr. shared that he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This is a health condition that can affect how a person moves.
