Christina Milian (born Christina Flores on September 26, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her hit songs and roles in popular movies.
Her music career took off in 2000 when she was featured on the rapper Ja Rule's single "Between Me and You". The song was a big hit. Soon after, she signed with Island Records and released her own hit single, "AM to PM". She also sang the theme song "Call Me, Beep Me!" for the Disney Channel cartoon Kim Possible.
Milian's second album, It's About Time (2004), included the famous song "Dip It Low". This song became a top 5 hit in the United States. Her third album, So Amazin' (2006), had the popular single "Say I". She was especially successful in the United Kingdom, where her songs often reached the top 10.
As an actress, Milian starred in the movies Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003), Be Cool (2005), and Pulse (2006). She also appeared in the TV sitcom Grandfathered from 2015 to 2016. Besides her work in entertainment, Milian is a business owner. She co-owns a dessert shop called Beignet Box in Los Angeles.

Early Life
Christina Milian was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Her parents, Don Flores and Carmen Milian, are of Afro-Cuban descent. She is the oldest of three sisters.
When she was young, her family moved to Waldorf, Maryland. At age four, she became interested in acting and singing. Her family saw her talent and supported her dream. As a child, she appeared in commercials for companies like Wendy's. She also played the lead role in the musical Annie.
When Milian was 13, her mother moved the family to Los Angeles to help her pursue an acting career. Her parents later divorced. In Los Angeles, Milian wanted to be an actress but also hoped to get a recording contract. She hosted the Disney Channel show Movie Surfers under the name Tina.
At 17, she started writing her own songs to create a demo tape. She met the music producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and began working in his studio every day. This helped her meet important people in the music industry.
Career
2000–2002: First Hits and Acting Debut
Milian started her career with small roles in TV shows like Sister, Sister and movies like American Pie. Her big break in music came when she sang on Ja Rule's song "Between Me and You". The song was a hit and reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
This success led to a record deal with Def Soul Records. She recorded her first album, Christina Milian, which was released in Europe in 2002. The album included the hit singles "AM to PM" and "When You Look at Me". During this time, she also sang the theme song for the Disney show Kim Possible.
In 2002, Milian hosted a show on MTV called Becoming Presents: Wannabe. This led to her first lead role in the movie Love Don't Cost a Thing.
2003–2004: It's About Time and a New Image
Milian moved to a new record label, Island Records, and began working on her second album. She wanted a new sound and a new look. She traveled the world to work with famous music producers.
Her second album, It's About Time, came out in 2004. The album's first single, "Dip It Low", was a huge success. It reached number 5 in the U.S. and number 2 in the U.K. The song showed a more grown-up R&B style compared to her earlier pop music. To promote the album, she toured as the opening act for the singer Usher. The album earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
2005–2006: So Amazin' and Changing Labels
In 2005, Milian acted in the movie Be Cool with John Travolta and Uma Thurman. She also starred in the horror film Pulse. That same year, she received an award from the Elton John AIDS Foundation for being a good role model for young people.
Her third album, So Amazin', was released in 2006. The main single, "Say I", featured rapper Young Jeezy and became a top 5 hit in the U.K. The album reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. Shortly after the album's release, Milian left her record label, Island Def Jam. She later released a greatest hits album called The Best of Christina Milian.
2010–Present: Return to Music and Television
After a break, Milian returned to the spotlight. From 2012 to 2013, she was the Social Media Correspondent for the TV show The Voice. In 2012, she signed with Young Money.
In 2013, she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. In 2015, her family's reality show, Christina Milian Turned Up, premiered on E!. The show followed the lives of Christina, her mother, and her two sisters.
She released a new EP called 4U in 2015. It included the singles "Rebel" and "Do It" featuring Lil' Wayne. In 2019, she starred in the Netflix movie Falling Inn Love. She also starred in another Netflix movie, Resort to Love, in 2021. In 2024, it was announced she would play the character María LaGuerta in the TV show Dexter: Original Sin.
Personal Life
Christina is proud of her Cuban-American background. She has spoken about being Afro-Latina, explaining that Latinos come in all different colors.
Milian dated actor Nick Cannon from 2003 to 2005 after they met on the set of Love Don't Cost a Thing.
In 2009, she married the musician The-Dream. They have a daughter, who was born in 2010. The couple's marriage ended in 2011.
Since 2017, Milian has been in a relationship with French singer M. Pokora. They have two sons, born in January 2020 and April 2021. The couple got married in December 2020. As of 2023, Milian and her family live in France.
