A Look at Russell's Past
Russell was first planned out in 1888. It was named after Russell Spicer. His father helped bring the railroad to this community. A post office opened in Russell in 1889. The city officially became a city in 1898.

The Redwood River flows right through the city. This river adds to the natural beauty of the area.
