Ryozo Suzuki (鈴木 良三, Suzuki Ryōzō) is a former Japanese football player. He was born on September 20, 1939. Suzuki played as a defender and was an important part of the Japan national team. He is famous for helping Japan win a bronze medal at the Olympics.

Playing for Clubs: Hitachi's Defender
Suzuki was born in Saitama. After finishing his studies at Rikkyo University, he joined a football club called Hitachi in 1962. In 1965, Hitachi became part of a new league called the Japan Soccer League. Suzuki played for Hitachi until he retired in 1970. During his time in the league, he played 67 games and scored 5 goals.
Representing Japan: Olympic Glory
Suzuki first played for the Japan national team on August 15, 1961. He was still a university student at the time!
Olympic Games Appearances
In 1964, Suzuki was chosen to play for Japan at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He played in all the matches for his country. Four years later, in 1968, he was again selected for the Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Even though he didn't play in the matches that year, Japan's team won a bronze medal! This was a huge achievement for Japanese football.
Asian Games and Hall of Fame
Suzuki also played for Japan in the 1962 and 1966 Asian Games. He played a total of 24 games for Japan before 1968.
In 2010, Ryozo Suzuki was honored by being chosen for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This is a special place for the best football players in Japan's history. The team that won the bronze medal in 1968 was also selected for the Hall of Fame in 2018.
