Rhiza Ann Cenon Simbulan (born December 21, 1987), known as Ryza Cenon, is a talented Filipino actress, dancer, model, and painter.
In 2004, she won the title of Ultimate Female Survivor in the second season of StarStruck, a popular TV show on GMA Network. She has appeared in many TV series like Darna, Majika, Fantastikids, Fantastic Man, Joaquin Bordado, Buena Familia, and Alyas Robin Hood.
In 2016, Ryza starred as Jewel in the indie film Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B. In December 2016, she became very popular for her role as Georgia Acuzar-Ferrer in the TV show Ika-6 na Utos.

Early Life and Education
Ryza Cenon was born Rhiza Ann Cenon Simbulan on December 21, 1987. Her birthplace was Gapan, a city in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She was the younger of two children. Ryza's mother, Rosanna C. Simbulan, passed away in 1991 when Ryza was only three years old. Her father worked abroad as an OFW in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Ryza spent most of her childhood living with her grandmother. After her mother's death, she and her grandmother lived in Gapan. They later moved to Laguna. Ryza moved to Malabon City when her father remarried. She then moved to Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija after her father and stepmother separated. A few years later, she returned to her grandmother's home in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Ryza finished her elementary and high school studies at the Augustinian School of Cabuyao in Laguna. She then studied at the AMA Computer Learning Center. She graduated as a computer programmer.

Starting Her Acting Career
Winning StarStruck in 2004
In 2004, Ryza Cenon joined GMA Network's famous reality talent show, StarStruck. She won the title of Ultimate Female Survivor in StarStruck season 2. Mike Tan won the Ultimate Male Survivor title. Both received 1,000,000 pesos and exclusive contracts with GMA Network. After winning, Ryza performed as a guest on the musical variety show SOP Gigsters from 2004 to 2006.
Early Roles from 2005 to 2010
Ryza Cenon started her acting career with GMA Network in 2005. She played Mae in Now and Forever. In the same year, she joined the cast of Darna. Ryza played Louella, a villain who wanted revenge on Darna (played by Angel Locsin). Darna was a huge hit. Its first episode got a 47.1% rating, which was the highest for a pilot episode in Philippine TV history at that time.
In 2006, Ryza appeared in Majika with Angel Locsin and Dennis Trillo. She played Pria / Sara, the younger sister of Sabina (Angel Locsin). After Majika, she starred in the movie Lovestruck (2006). For this role, she won the New Movie Actress of the Year award at the 2006 Star Awards for Movies. That same year, she played Anabelle in the fantasy-adventure series Fantastikids.
In 2008, Ryza starred in the drama series Joaquin Bordado with Robin Padilla. She played Cecile, who was blind and angry at the person who caused it. Ryza took over this role after Jennylyn Mercado became pregnant.
From 2007 to 2010, Ryza played many supporting roles. She was the superheroine Wena / Fantastic Girl in Fantastic Man (2007). She played Abril Del Castillo in Rosalinda (2009). She was Apple Madrigal in Gumapang Ka sa Lusak (2010). Ryza also played Candy / Joy Flores in Langit sa Piling Mo (2010) and Darlene Roces in Koreana (2010). She was also the villain Regine in Bantatay (2010).
Key Roles from 2011 to 2016
In 2011, Ryza Cenon played Mia Valencia in I Heart You, Pare!. Her second project that year was a villain role in Machete. She played Marla Lucero / Fake Aginaya / New Bugana, who became a villain to the heroine Aginaya/Rosella (played by Bela Padilla).
The next year, she appeared in the drama series Legacy. Ryza played Juliet, the very ambitious best friend of Diana Calcetas (played by Heart Evangelista). After Legacy, she played another villain role in Luna Blanca: Ang Ikalawang Yugto (Book 2). Ryza was Ashley Alvarez, a main villain in the second part of the series.
Ryza Cenon appeared in three TV series in 2013. The first was Sana ay Ikaw na Nga. She played Olga Villavicer / Sandra Sebastian, a cold-hearted villain. The second series was Indio, an epic fantasy show. She played Isabel Alonso, an arrogant and mean character. The third series was Adarna, where she played Mikay.
In 2015, Ryza appeared in three drama series on GMA Network. She was Mariel in Second Chances (2015). She played Margarita "Rita" Barcial in Kailan Ba Tama ang Mali? (2015). She was also Vaness Castro in Buena Familia (2015).
Ryza's acting career really took off in 2016. She starred with Martin del Rosario in Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B. This independent film was about a lonely manananggal (a creature from Filipino folklore) named Jewel, played by Ryza. Jewel falls in love with a heartbroken man. This role was considered her first mature performance.
In December 2016, Ryza starred in the series Ika-6 na Utos with Sunshine Dizon and Gabby Concepcion. Ryza played the main villain, Georgia Ferrer / Athena Francisco. Georgia was the glamorous and evil mistress of Jerome "Rome" Fuentabella. Ryza was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 7th EdukCircle Awards for her role. On December 8, 2017, she won her first Best Supporting Actress award at the 7th OFW Gawad Parangal. She also received the TV Supporting Actress of the Year award at the 49th Box-Office Entertainment Awards on May 1, 2018.
Ryza also appeared as a hotel attendant named Ruth in the fantasy-comedy film Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers (2016).
New Management and Network in 2017-2018
On June 15, 2017, after 13 years with GMA Artist Center, Ryza Cenon signed a contract with Viva Artist Agency. In 2017, Ryza starred with JC Santos in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. The movie was released on January 24, 2018. Ryza received the Yakushi Pearl Award at the Osaka Asian Film Festival 2018 for her acting in Mr. and Mrs. Cruz.
On April 12, 2018, Ryza Cenon signed a contract with ABS-CBN. Her first project there was FPJ's Ang Probinsyano. She played Aubrey Hidalgo, the daughter of President Oscar Hidalgo. She also played a lead role in The General's Daughter alongside Angel Locsin.
Modeling Career
Ryza Cenon has also had a modeling career. She was ranked in the top 100 of a popular magazine's "100 ... Women" list several times. For example, she was ranked number 45 in 2005, number 15 in 2013, and number 45 again in 2017.
SH3 Trio Group
In January 2010, Ryza Cenon, along with LJ Reyes and Chynna Ortaleza, formed a singing and dancing group called SH3. The trio performed on the Sunday variety show SOP Rules. The group later disbanded in the same year.
Personal Life and Hobbies
Ryza Cenon has found joy in various hobbies. She took up painting to help with her mental well-being. Her first painting exhibit, called Independencia: Ang Panimula, was held in a restaurant in San Juan City on June 19, 2016. Most of her paintings were abstract.
Besides painting, Ryza enjoys archery. She is also passionate about cooking. In 2015, she studied at the Center for Culinary Arts, Manila after successfully opening her food business, PaBurrito.
Ryza Cenon announced in July 2020 that she was expecting a baby with her boyfriend, cinematographer Miguel Antonio Cruz. On October 31, 2020, Ryza and Miguel welcomed their first child, a son named Night.
