The SAARC Literary Award is a special prize given every year. It is presented by the Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL). This award started in 2001.
It honors writers and poets from countries in South Asia. These countries are part of the SAARC group. Famous writers like Shamshur Rahman, Mahasweta Devi, and Mark Tully have won this award. Nepali poet and translator Suman Pokhrel is the only person to have won it two times.

SAARC Young Writers Award
FOSWAL also gives out the "SAARC Young Writers Award." This award is for new and upcoming poets and writers. They come from countries across South Asia. Some past winners include Khalida Froagh and Rubana Huq.
