Salisbury is a small community in Nassau County, New York, located on Long Island. It's known as a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a recognized community, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Salisbury was once called South Westbury. In 2010, about 12,093 people lived here. Many homes in Salisbury are built in the "Levitt style," which are houses designed for quick construction. These homes are close to Eisenhower Park, a large park that was once called Salisbury Park.
The community is served by the Westbury Railroad Station, part of the Long Island Railroad. This makes it easy for people to travel to and from Salisbury. It also shares fire services with nearby Westbury and East Meadow.

History of Salisbury
Salisbury got its name because it sits on a wide, flat area of land. This area is part of the larger Hempstead Plains. In the late 1800s, people thought this flat land looked a lot like the Salisbury Plain in England. That's where the famous Stonehenge is located!
Because of this similarity, the name Salisbury became official for the community in 1990. Before that, it was known as South Westbury, simply because it was located south of the town of Westbury.
Geography and Location
