Sally Falk Moore facts for kids
Sally Falk Moore (January 18, 1924 – May 2, 2021) was a smart and important American anthropologist and a retired professor at Harvard University. She was known for studying how laws and rules work in different cultures. She did a lot of her research in Tanzania, a country in East Africa.
Sally Falk Moore first trained to be a lawyer at Columbia Law School. After working for a while, she became a lawyer for the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg, Germany. Here, she helped with important trials after World War II.
Later, she returned to the United States and earned her advanced degree (a PhD) in anthropology from Columbia University in 1957. Anthropology is the study of human societies and cultures.
Sally Moore's Teaching Career
Sally Moore taught at several famous universities during her career. She was a professor at the University of Southern California from 1963 to 1977. She also taught at the University of California at Los Angeles from 1977 to 1981, and at Yale University from 1975 to 1976.
In 1981, she joined the faculty at Harvard University. From 1985 to 1989, she held a very important leadership role as the dean of the Graduate School at Harvard. This meant she helped oversee many advanced study programs. In 2010, she became a special professor at Harvard Law School, teaching about laws that apply between different countries.

Notable Students
Sally Falk Moore also taught many students who went on to do great things. One of her notable students was Craig Calhoun. He later became the director of the London School of Economics and Political Science in September 2012.
