Sam Chui's Early Life
Sam Chui was born in Beijing, China, on November 7, 1980. When he was a child, his family moved to Hong Kong. Sam loved visiting Kai Tak Airport, which was Hong Kong's old airport. He spent a lot of time there, watching planes land and take off. This is where his passion for aviation began!
Sam Chui's Career in Aviation
Sam Chui started his journey in 1999 by creating a website. On this website, he shared his fantastic photos of aircraft. Over time, his website grew and now includes news and updates about everything happening in the world of aviation. He is especially known for his cool pictures of Los Angeles International Airport taken from helicopters high above.
Flying on Special Planes
Sam has had some incredible flying experiences. In 2019, he was the only passenger on a special Boeing 747-SP private jet. This plane used to belong to the Qatari Royal Family. He flew all the way from Hamilton, Canada, to Marana, Arizona, on this unique flight.
Later in 2019, he flew on the very last El Al Israel Airlines Boeing 747 flight. This journey took him from Rome to Tel-Aviv. It was a historic moment for the airline and for Sam!
Sam's Love for the Boeing 747
Sam Chui has a huge interest in the Boeing 747, often called the "Queen of the Skies." He has flown over a million miles on 279 different 747 flights! He has also flown on every type of commercial 747 plane from 37 different airlines around the world. His very first flight on a Boeing 747 was in 1993. He flew with United Airlines from Hong Kong to Tokyo Narita.
Sam has flown on 240 different airlines and 180 different types of aircraft. He has traveled from New York to London on the super-fast Concorde jet. He has also landed on a glacier in New Zealand and visited Lukla in Nepal, which is known for its challenging airport. He even took one of the longest non-stop flights, from Singapore to Newark.
In July 2021, Sam Chui earned his Private Pilot License in the USA. This means he can now fly planes himself!
