San Cristóbal Cucho is a town and a special area called a municipality in the San Marcos department of Guatemala. It was first established on October 11, 1825. For a short time in 1935, it became part of San Pedro Sacatepéquez. However, it became its own municipality again on July 12, 1945.

How San Cristóbal Cucho Was Founded
Spanish explorers found this region in the 1500s. Soldiers led by Captain Juan de Dios y Cardona were among the first Europeans to arrive. Before the Spanish, the area was home to the Mam people. After the Spanish arrived, they created a settlement for the local people. This settlement officially became a municipality on October 11, 1811. It was given the name "San Cristóbal Cucho." The town is located south of the main city in the San Marcos Department.
