Sanaa Gamil (Arabic: سناء جميل) was a famous Egyptian actress. She was born Thoraya Youssef Atallah (Arabic: ثريا يوسف عطالله) on April 27, 1930. She passed away on December 22, 2002.
Sanaa was born in Minya Governorate, Egypt. She later moved to Cairo to start her acting career. When she began acting, she changed her name to Sanaa Gamil.

Sanaa Gamil's Acting Career
Sanaa Gamil was known for many great roles. One of her most famous was playing Nefisah in the movie Bidaya wa nihaya (A Beginning and an End). She acted alongside the well-known actor Omar Sharif in this 1960 film.
The movie was based on a book by Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz. Sanaa Gamil won an award for best supporting actress at the Moscow Film Festival in 1961 for her work in this movie.
On Stage and Television
Sanaa Gamil was not only a movie star. She was also one of the best Egyptian theater actresses. She even performed in French plays for the famous Comédie-Française theater group.
She also acted in several TV shows. One popular series was Oyoun (Eyes), where she starred with Fouad el-Mohandes. She also performed in plays like The Visit with Gamil Ratib.
Personal Life
Sanaa Gamil was married to the famous Egyptian journalist Louis Greiss. They did not have any children.
