He acted in many TV shows and movies, and also a few plays, over 65 years! He was well-known for playing "bad guy" roles. You might know him from the big movie Lawrence of Arabia.

Early Life and Education
Gamil Ratib was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1926. His family loved art very much. Because of this, he was sent to Paris, France, to study art. He especially loved French theater and studied it at the University of France.
Starting His Acting Career
Gamil Ratib started his acting journey in 1945 with his first film. He worked in both Egypt and France. He became a very respected actor in both countries. He even received special awards for his work.
Awards and Recognition
Gamil Ratib was given many important awards. One of them was the Legion of Honour from France. This is a very high award given for great achievements. He also received the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit from Egypt. While in France, he married a French woman and became a French citizen.
