Early Life and Cricket Beginnings
Sandeep Lamichhane was born on August 2, 2000, in Aruchaur, Syangja, Nepal. When he was a child, he looked up to Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Australian bowler Shane Warne.
He later moved to Chitwan and started training at the Chitwan Cricket Academy. This academy was run by former captain Raju Khadka. One day, the captain of Nepal's team, Paras Khadka, and coach Pubudu Dasanayake visited. They saw Sandeep bowl and were very impressed.
Coach Dasanayake was the first to see Sandeep's amazing talent when he was just 14 years old. Sandeep was then chosen for the national under-19 training camp.
First Big Matches
Sandeep played his first important cricket match (called a List A match) on April 16, 2016. This was against Namibia. Before this, he was picked for Nepal's under-19 team to play in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
In one of the World Cup matches, against Ireland's under-19 team, Sandeep took a hat-trick with his leg-break bowling. This means he got three wickets in three balls! He was the fifth bowler in the history of the under-19 World Cup to do this. He was named the best player of the match for taking 5 wickets for only 27 runs.
Sandeep finished that tournament as the second-best wicket-taker, with 14 wickets.
